Professional Color Repair & Carpet Dyeing
IICRC Color Repair Certified—Invisible Bleach Spot Repair & Fading Restoration
Bleach spots, sun fading, and discoloration don't have to mean carpet replacement. Our certified color repair techniques restore appearance invisibly—saving thousands over new flooring.
IICRC Color Repair Certified
Darren Miller holds IICRC Color Repair certification —specialized training in carpet dyeing, color matching, and restoration techniques. This rare certification, combined with Master Textile Cleaner credentials, ensures expert color restoration that blends seamlessly with existing carpet.
Common Carpet Color Problems We Fix
Bleach Spots
Household bleach, cleaning products, and acne medications create bright white or discolored spots on carpet. Professional re-dyeing restores color invisibly without patching.
Typical Cost: $150-$300 per spot
vs. $5,000+ room replacement
Sun Fading
UV exposure from windows causes gradual fading and color loss in carpet near doors, windows, and sliding glass. Dyeing restores original vibrancy.
Typical Cost: $300-$600
Depending on area size
Chemical Discoloration
Incorrect cleaning products, acid-based cleaners, or contractor spills cause permanent color changes. Certified color repair neutralizes and restores affected areas.
Typical Cost: $200-$500
Per affected area
Color Transfer
Dye from rugs, furniture, or wet clothing transfers onto carpet, leaving stains that won't come out with cleaning. Re-dyeing blends the discoloration invisibly.
Typical Cost: $150-$400
Per spot or area
Pet Stain Discoloration
Pet urine and cleaning attempts can permanently alter carpet color, leaving yellow or brown discoloration. Color repair restores appearance after proper decontamination.
Typical Cost: $200-$450
Combined with pet treatment
Traffic Lane Graying
High-traffic hallways and walkways develop gray wear patterns from years of foot traffic. Color restoration revives vibrancy and extends carpet life.
Typical Cost: $400-$800
For hallway restoration
Why Color Repair is Better Than Replacement
❌ Carpet Replacement Costs
- Single Bleach Spot: Often requires replacing entire visible area ($2,000-$5,000)
- Sun-Faded Area: Can't replace just the faded section—entire room needed ($3,000-$8,000)
- Hallway Fading: Full replacement runs $5,000-$15,000
- Additional Costs: Furniture moving, disposal fees, downtime, installation labor
✅ Color Repair Benefits
- Invisible Results: Properly done, you can't tell where the repair was made
- Fraction of Replacement Cost: 90-95% savings over new carpet
- Same-Day Service: Most repairs completed in hours, not days
- No Disruption: No furniture moving or major upheaval
- Extends Carpet Life: Keeps otherwise perfect carpet in service for years longer
Real Example: A Chilliwack homeowner saved $4,500 by repairing three bleach spots instead of replacing living room carpet.
Our IICRC-Certified Color Repair Process
1. Color Analysis & Matching
Critical First Step: We identify the exact carpet fiber type (nylon, polyester, olefin) and original color formulation. Using color theory and spectral analysis, we create a custom dye blend that precisely matches the surrounding carpet.
- Professional color matching ensures invisible results
- Test application before treating visible areas
- Account for lighting, surrounding colors, and carpet age
2. Pre-Treatment & Preparation
The damaged area is thoroughly cleaned to remove any contaminants, stains, or residues that could interfere with dye absorption. For bleach spots, we neutralize remaining bleach to prevent further damage.
3. Dye Application
Precision Application: Using professional carpet dyes and specialized application tools, we carefully apply color to affected fibers. Multiple coats may be required for complete coverage and color depth.
- Controlled application prevents over-dyeing
- Gradual building of color for natural appearance
- Blending techniques feather edges for invisible transitions
4. Heat Setting & Fixation
Professional carpet dyes require heat setting to permanently bond to fibers. We use specialized equipment to ensure dye permanence and resistance to cleaning and wear.
5. Final Inspection & Protection
Once dye is set, we inspect under various lighting conditions to ensure invisible blending. If needed, minor touch-ups are completed. The area is then protected and allowed to cure fully before traffic.
